Lacey Nedjelski
My name is Lacey Nedjelski and I am the mother of 3 beautiful boys. I was 18 and 20 when I had my first 2 boys and had them in hospital like I thought I was supposed to. I didn't know there was another way.
After having my second I got introduced to the art of Reiki and the power of healing touch. I saw and learned how touch could be a powerful tool to ease pain, calm nerves and bring spiritual peace. I studied and became a certified Reiki Master. During my training, I became aware of women who were having their babies at home with the help of a doula. The doula was there to provide for the needs of the mother without intervention of doctors or pain medications or induction medications. Could women really have happy, healthy births in the comfort of their own homes?
Then I got pregnant with my third boy! I found a Midwife and decided that I would have this amazing experience for myself and I did!! It was beautiful, amazing and everything that I thought having a baby should be and had never known. I attended classes, and studied to become a Birth Doula. I am now hoping to take it a step further and become a certified Midwife in the next few years.
My love of the labour, the birthing process and the way our bodies work inspires me every day. I want to spend my life educating and empowering women, like me, who didn't know any other way; to give the opportunity to experience the wonderful joy of birthing at home or in the hospital.
I love being with my family, watching my children learn and grow, I enjoy reading and meditation when I have a few moments to myself, I enjoy yoga and music and am always up for going to a good show. I look forward to working with you, empowering and educating and helping you obtain that special birth you have dreamed of!

I have long admired the power of women. I believe women during pregnancy and birth demonstrate an amazing strength during the transition into motherhood. This passion lead me to complete a doula course through Birthrythms this fall. In 2008, I obtained a B. Sc. in Nutrition to become a registered Dietitian. My first job was with Healthiest Babies Possible and Maxxine Wright Community Health Centre in Surrey BC. Through this job, my passion for pregnancy and birth was ignited. One of the best experiences I had in BC was during a breastfeeding class for health professionals. I learned about natural, physiological birth and its impacts on not only breastfeeding but the emotional health of mother and baby.
The only baby I have at home at the moment is my giant English Mastiff, Titus, who keeps my partner and I busy. I am dedicated to yoga and enjoy running down by the beautiful river. I am constantly reading and have just picked up knitting.
I believe women have many choices to make through conception, pregnancy, birth and parenting. My goal is to be a source of supportive information for women and their partners through this process. I hope to empower women to navigate their choices for their best birth.
